This guide is about fishing in Throne and Liberty. You will learn how to get a fishing rod, where to find bait and how to fish, including using stamina and proper rod control to catch fish. The fish you catch can be used to cook food, which gives useful game bonuses.

To successfully fish in Throne and Liberty, players need a fishing rod and bait. With these items, they can not only catch fish but also use their catch in other aspects of the game, such as cooking.

Where to Find a Fishing Rod in Throne and Liberty

Fishing rods in the game vary in rarity, with the bamboo rod being the most common. There are several ways to obtain it, but many players prefer to get it as early as possible.

Contract Coin Merchant
The first way is to progress through the main quests until you can start completing the first contracts. After reaching this stage, players can visit the Contract Coin Merchant, who sells a bamboo rod for 300 coins. This is quite a high price for a basic rod, but if you talk to the NPC across from this merchant, you can receive it for free.

Complete the "Expedition Adventure" Quest
Another option is to complete the "Expedition Adventure" quest in Chapter 3. To start the quest, meet Percy, the adventure professional, in Castleton. He will offer to send one of the Amitoi on an expedition. After completing the quest, return to Percy, and he will give you a bamboo rod at no cost.

After obtaining the rod, you need to take care of the bait. The easiest bait to start with is paste bait, which you can receive daily from the same Contract Coin Merchant.

You cannot upgrade the rod like a weapon, so over time, you will need to find a more advanced model.

Sources of Rare Fish
Most rare fish are caught in unique locations or under certain conditions. Hints about these locations and conditions are provided in the fish's description.

How to Fish
To start fishing in Throne and Liberty, open the character menu and look at the upper left corner, where your current weapon is displayed. There, you will see the selected rod and bait. Depending on which fish you plan to catch, choose the appropriate bait. After that, head to the nearest body of water.

Cast your line and wait for the fish to bite. Once this happens, the fish's stamina indicator (orange) will appear on the screen, which you will need to completely empty to pull the fish out. To do this, point the rod in the direction opposite to the fish's movement. The character also has his own stamina indicator (green), and if it runs out before the fish's, the catch will be lost.

Catching fish grants experience, and with each successful catch, your fishing skill will improve, making it easier to catch rarer species. Caught fish can be used to prepare various dishes at in-game kitchens, such as the one in Castleton. Each dish provides unique buffs that are useful in challenging battles. Regularly improve your skills to always have the necessary resources on hand.

Steps to Fish:

1. Equip the rod by clicking on it, ensuring it has bait attached.

2. Aim the blue indicator at any body of water and press "F."

3. When a fish is caught, two stamina bars will appear.

4. The fish's stamina bar is orange.

5. You have a green stamina bar.

6. Pull the rod in the opposite direction from the direction the fish is moving to deplete the fish's stamina by pressing the A or D keys.

7. Stop pulling left or right for a second to recover your stamina.

8. Repeat until the fish is caught.

Good luck fishing!
